Local Stories about our volunteers:

At Roosevelt Elementary School in Dickinson, North Dakota Foster Grandparent Johanne spends one-on-one time with students who need extra academic help in the classroom.

"3A from Roosevelt LOVES Volunteer Grandma [Johanne]. Former Dickinson Public School teacher, sub and now volunteer!!! Talk about dedication to the students of Dickinson Public School! When asked 'At the age of 83, why do you still want to work in the school system?" Her answer is 'The students inspire me!!!' " submitted by Donna Abrahamson 3rd grade teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School.

At Rita Murphy Elementary School a Foster Grandparent Program volunteer:

"Del is AMAZING! She is willing to jump right in and try anything. Del can joke with the kids that like to joke, help make learning fun for those who struggle, and challenge the ones that are ready for more difficult tasks. Del is creative and helpful. She is always willing to do anything that helps the class. Del worked primarily with a student who was about two years behind grade level. She would take the resources that were given to her and make learning interesting for the student. She is always positive with the students and they all love her. My class always looked forward to Wednesdays because they knew Miss Del would be spending her day with the class." submitted by Sarah Drevlow 2nd grade teacher at Rita Murphy Elementary School.
